Audience: Everyone.

Short answer: Add a phone number to your profile, click Verify
now, agree to the SMS terms, enter the 6-digit code we text you, and
you're set. To stop receiving texts at any time, reply STOP to any
of our messages.

Step-by-step (turning on SMS)

1. Open your Profile and add (or confirm) your phone number.
2. Anywhere on the site you see the gold "Get SMS notifications"
   banner, click Verify now. Or open the verification modal from
   your profile.
3. Tick the box agreeing to the SMS Terms and Privacy Policy
   (thepaintballnetwork.com/sms-policy/).
4. Click Send Verification Code — we text you a 6-digit code.
5. Enter the code in the modal (it expires in 10 minutes; Resend
   Code is available).
6. On success, your number shows as Verified on your profile and
   SMS notifications start flowing.

What you'll get texts about

• Direct Alerts when teammates @-mention you in a team chat
  — but only when you've been "stepped away" for 15+ minutes
  and we haven't already SMS'd you about that room in the last
  30 minutes (so a flurry of mentions doesn't become a flurry
  of texts).
• Future SMS categories will be added over time and listed on the
  SMS Policy page.

Step-by-step (opting out)

• Reply STOP to any text we send — Twilio confirms the opt-out
  immediately. We will not text that number again.
• Reply HELP to get a help reply with contact info.
• You can also disable Direct Alerts specifically (without opting
  out of the carrier number) under chat settings — toggle
  Direct Alerts off.

Notes / gotchas

• Changing your phone number resets verification. If you swap
  numbers in your profile, the new one is unverified by default —
  you'll see the Verify now banner again. Re-verify and you're
  back on.
• We will never text from a different number. If you get a text
  asking you to click a sketchy link claiming to be from
  ThePaintballNetwork, it isn't us — report it.
• Message and data rates may apply (carrier dependent).
