What it is

Field boxes are the buzzers and gate readers that run a match. When we release an update for them, this app is how you send it to a box — over the same Wi-Fi the boxes are already on. No cables, no developer tools.

The app does not contain a firmware update, and it does not contain any password. You supply both: your event organiser gives you the update file for each box and the update password. That is why this download is open to everyone — on its own it does nothing.

Opening it the first time
  1. Unzip the download. You will get Flash TPN Box.
  2. Move it wherever you like — your Applications folder or your Desktop.
  3. Right-click it and choose Open, then click Open again. Do this the first time only. Double-clicking a brand-new app that did not come from the App Store makes macOS refuse it; right-click → Open is how you tell macOS you meant it.
  4. Every time after that, open it normally.
Using it at an event
  1. Put your Mac on the same field Wi-Fi as the boxes.
  2. Power the box on and give it about ten seconds to join the network.
  3. Put the update file your organiser sent you in the same folder as the app.
  4. Open the app. It searches the Wi-Fi and lists your boxes by name. If the list is empty, press Find boxes.
  5. Click the box you want. There is no address to look up or type.
  6. Type the update password and press Flash.
  7. Wait for it to finish. Do not power the box off while it is updating.
Requirements
  • macOS only. There is no Windows version of this app yet.
  • You need to be on the field's Wi-Fi network — this does not work over the internet.
  • You need the update file and the update password from your event organiser. Neither is on this page, and neither is inside the app.
Latest field box release

2026.08.30 · released August 30, 2026

Gate counts only a button press. Walking past a reader with a wristband no longer puts a player on the field.

  • Press the button at the gate. If the band has already been read it is attached to that press; if not, the box tries a read right then.
  • A player is added to or removed from the field only by a press, so a spectator or a passing player can no longer change the count.
  • The gate light follows the box's real state instead of the last thing it happened to hear.
  • Directors update boxes with Flash TPN Box over the field Wi-Fi.
